Once you’ve submitted a request, you can expect a reply within the day (potentially hour). In that reply, I will provide an estimate for your custom portrait, instructions for making payment, and details needed to complete your portrait. Portraits are booked on a first come, first serve basis, so if you are hoping to get in early, please make your payment as quickly as possible!

To keep it fair and avoid delays, commissions are booked by receipt of payment, not by time of estimate request. However, emails are sent in order of estimate requests with payment details, so it still helps to put in a request sooner than later. Since there is a fixed amount of commission spots, and based on the popularity of previous rounds, these spots usually fill pretty quickly so if you are looking for a quick turnaround, keep your eyes peeled for your email response and pay quickly.

Once payment is received, I will reply with your expected turnaround date. Expected turnaround can be anywhere from 1 week to 2 months depending on the booking spot and overall commission timeline.

The final deliverable is a square ratio, high resolution PNG file (JPG also can be requested) ready for printing and sharing online.

Yes, commissions are booked by time of payment (details on doing this included in estimate response email), meaning the full estimate amount is required prior to booking. Refunds are not allowed at this time due to the unique nature of creating custom portraits.

Yes! One revision round is included in the estimate for small tweaks - adjusting colors, lines, details, etc. Additional revisions or revisions out of scope will be given an estimate to approve before proceeding.

Custom portrait commissions are all created in the same style as the examples. This style leans towards more full-figured bodies - if that bothers you, please do not submit a request.

Use of illustrations for marketing/use of any kind by a business is strictly prohibited (yes, this does include social media!). If you’d like to purchase commercial usage, reach out in a separate email! Otherwise, the personal usage agreement is as follows:

1. Client (name listed above) shall not use any of Courtney Ahn Design's final deliverables or project elements for the purposes of profit and/or under the name of a commercial business or entity, including but not limited to prohibiting use as a logo design, sellable artwork, or marketing element.

2. Client, upon making full payment, is granted personal usage of the final deliverables, including both rights to publish online and print without attribution. Client does not own the artwork, but is given unlimited rights for personal use.

3. Courtney Ahn Design retains partial reproduction rights to use any final deliverables or project elements in the purpose of marketing one's business, portfolio, and future publications on design.

4. Rejection of the completed project or cancellation during its execution will result in forfeiture of deposit. No refunds are provided due to the custom nature of the work.
